My first tattoo was when I turned 18. I said to my mom, "I want a tattoo of a cross on my foot." Thinking she would reject the idea completely, she said, "Oh, I will get one too! I have always wanted a cross on my foot!" So there we were with Bert, our tattoo artist, getting the first of four tattoos. This cross on my foot reminds me daily of Jesus' work on the cross and the grace that flows from His death and resurrection. When I first got the tattoo, I didn't really have vision as to why I was getting it. I was just going through the motions at church, but little did I know, a year later I would fully surrender my life to Jesus and begin to live in His constant grace. Even though it is simple, it is a beautiful reminder of His love for me and for those around me. It also reminds me that I get to pick up my cross daily and live for Him. It is a choice I greatly delight in it every single day.
