Switchfoot is an American rock band that originated in San Diego, California. The band was formed in 1996 by Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (keyboard, guitar), and Drew Shirley (guitar). Switchfoot gained popularity with their breakthrough album The Beautiful Letdown, released in 2003 featuring hit singles like "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move."
Switchfoot is known for their alternative rock sound, thoughtful lyrics, and energetic live performances. Over the years, they have released several albums, including Nothing Is Sound, Oh! Gravity", Vice Verses", Fading West, and Where the Light Shines Through. The band's music often explores themes of faith, hope, and social issues.
